water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Justification for type of information:
Test performed in conjunction with partition coefficient by shake flask method
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.6 (Water Solubility)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
flask method
Water solubility:
175.3 g/L
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Loading of aqueous phase:
1 000 g/L
Incubation duration:
ca. 24 h
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
> 5.04 - < 5.07
Conclusions:
The solubility of manganese glycinate in the pH range 5.04-5.07 at 20.0 ± 0.5 oC is 175.3 g / l.
It is noted that in view of the nature of the substance, there will be dissociation of the Mn, sulphate and glycinate. This behaviour will be pH critical and will be impacted by hard water under environmental conditions. This water solubility figure is therefore considered an artificial laboratory result and may not reflect solubility under environmental conditions.
Executive summary:

It is very likely that pH will be critical in determining solubility of the ions and at high pH, dissociated manganese will precipitate as carbonate or hydroxide.  However, under biological and environmental pH, there is a significantly high solubility.

Actual pH in deionised water is approximately pH 5
