First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General advice
Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately.
Inhalation
Remove to fresh air. Oxygen, if needed.
Skin contact
Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water.
Eye contact
Rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
Ingestion
Call a physician immediately. Induce vomiting if person is conscious. Hold person's head low, to prevent aspiration (inhalation into the windpipe) Rinse mouth. If conscious, give the victim plenty of water
to drink.
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed
Eyes
Inflammation
Lungs
Cough
Skin irritation
Notes to physician / Possible hazards
Systemic poisoning, heart and circulatory reaction, breathing problems
Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Due to toxicity, elimination is the main priority.
If the person remains conscious, induced vomiting may be advisable, otherwise pump out stomach
(gastric lavage) while taking preventive measures against inhalation (if necessary, intubation beforehand).
If ingested, irrigate the stomach.
Take preventive measures against aspiration (intubation if necessary).
Irritation of the skin and mucus membranes can be treated with corticosteroids.
Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Foam
Carbon dioxide (CO2)
Water spray jet
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions.
Carbon monoxide
Sulphur oxides
Advice for firefighters
Special protective equipment for firefighters
In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
Use personal protective equipment.
Additional advice
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local
regulations.
Prevent fire extinguishing water from contaminating surface water or the ground water system.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Use personal protective equipment.
Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.
Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.
Exposure controls
Environmental precautions
Do not allow contact with soil, surface or ground water.
If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust).
Treat recovered material as described in the section "Disposal considerations".

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Advice on safe handling : Handle and open container with care.

a) Respiratory protection : No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required.
In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory
equipment.
Recommended Filter type:
gas filter type A
The filter class for the respirator must be suitable for the maximum expected contaminant concentration
(gas/vapour/aerosol/particulates) that may arise when handling the product. If this concentration is exceeded, selfcontained breathing apparatus must be used.
Follow the instructions for use issued by the producer.
b) Hand protection : Protective gloves
Polychloroprene / Layer thickness 0,5 - 0,7 mm / Break
through time > 480 min (level 6) / EN 374-3
General recommendation: the usage time for protective
gloves is approx. 50% of the breakthrough time measured in the laboratory.
c) Eye protection : Wear eye/face protection.
Tightly fitting safety goggles
d) Skin and body protec
tion
: Wear protective gloves/ protective clothing/ eye protection/
face protection.
e) Hygiene measures : Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practice.
Ensure adequate ventilation, especially in confined areas.
Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.
Keep working clothes separately.
Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
