Description of key information

Two studies are available that both lack sufficient detail to allow definitive conclusions. Under aerobic conditions degradation half life was 3.9-7.3 hours, while under anaerobic conditions the half live was 18.2 hours (Ward 1984). The study by Federle (1988) was performed on a column of 20 meters that is likely to have included both aerob and anaerob sections. Mass balance in this study was > 100% and the degradation half live was 0.84 day (ca 20 hours).


The results of these are also all consistent and show a half life of under 1 day. The highest half life is 0.84 days. Thus 0.84 days is justifiable to include this value within the EUSES.

No definitive conclusions were drawn, in view of the limitations of studies available.

According to REACH Annex IX section 9.2.2.1 Column 2 this study can be waived if the test substance is readily biodegradable. Therefore as the substance is readily biodegradable, a waiver is justified.
