In order to calculate the surface tension, the value read in mN/m on the apparatus shall first be multiplied by the calibration factor, this yields a value which is only approximate and requires a correction. The surface tension can be calculated according to the following formula:

σ=f·F/(4πR)

where
F= the force measured on the dynamometer at the breakpoint of the film,
R= the radius of the ring (9.55mm)
f= the correction factor

The tensiometer was calibrated using pure water before sample test, the density of sample solution and the radius of the ring were input into the tensiometer and the correction factor M=f/(4πR) was achievedautomatically; Radius of the ring: R=9.55mm, Temperature of the solution:T=20, Concentration of the solution:C=1g/L.

Let the sample solution stand for 4 h after prepared. Transfer the sample solution to themeasurement vessel and measure the surface tension, the error between two parallel results should be less than 2%.
