Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Parameter:
sensitiveness to impact: impact energy (J)
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to impact using an impact energy of 40 J
Key result
Parameter:
sensitiveness to friction: friction load (N)
Remarks on result:
not sensitive to friction using a friction load of 360 N
Key result
Parameter:
thermal sensitivity - Koenen test: diameter of the orifice plate
Remarks on result:
not thermal sensitive if heated under defined confinement

BAM fall hammer test: In all six tests there were no signs of ignition or explosion on impact. When the test assembly was dismantled there were signs of decomposition. The test item had turned silver/grey in colour.

BAM friction test: In all six tests there were no signs of ignition or explosion. A black mark on the porcelain plate and peg indicated decomposition of the test material.

Where

T1 = time in seconds from application of the flame to a noticeable effect from the orifice.

T2 = time in seconds from application of the flame to a recorded event (eg explosion) or as in these tests to the end of the test with no recorded event.

Mean moisture content = 0.282 %.

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The test item is not explosive based on the results of this test.
Executive summary:

The explosive properties of the test item were determined in a study performed according to Method A.14 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC. There were no signs of ignition or explosion on impact in the BAM Fall Hammer test or in the BAM Friction test (although there were signs of decomposition in both tests). In the Koenen Steel Tube test, no explosive event was recorded during the 5-minute heating period. The test item was not explosive under the conditions of these tests.

Description of key information

The test item is not explosive based on the results of this test.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The explosive properties of the test item were determined in a study performed according to Method A.14 of Commission Directive 92/69/EEC. There were no signs of ignition or explosion on impact in the BAM Fall Hammer test or in the BAM Friction test (although there were signs of decomposition in both tests). In the Koenen Steel Tube test, no explosive event was recorded during the 5-minute heating period. The test item was not explosive under the conditions of these tests.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The test item was negative in the BAM fall hammer test, the BAM friction test and the Koenen steel tube test. Classification and labelling for explosiveness is not required.
