Additional information

Two key studies have been performed to test the ready biodegradability following the OECD 301B CO2 evolution test methods.

The first study was performed on SLMI and showed biodegradability of >80% in 28days and passed the 10d window.

The second study was performed on the read-across substance SCMI (Rodrigue, 2007) and measured biodegradation of >60% at the end of 10 days, showing ready biodegradation of the substance.

In a study performed to OECD 121, SLMI was determined to have a log10Koc value of less than 1.3 (Koc <20)

In a study with 14C- lauryl sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt according to guideline OECD 303A, a near complete removal of parent compound at stringent STP considitions (SRT of 6 ± 1 day) was found. Removal of the test substance from the influent through adsorption onto sludge ranged from 0.21 to 0.28%, demonstrating that the test substance was primarily removed by biodegradation (Gore, 2010).
