Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Type of information:
(Q)SAR
Adequacy of study:
supporting study
Study period:

Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: The organic carbon-normalized sorption coefficient for soil and sediment; i.e. Koc, of this substance has been calculated with EUSES version 2.1, based on logKow, by using the default QSAR model (for non-hydrophobics).
Justification for type of information:
QSAR prediction
Principles of method if other than guideline:
As the screening study (OECD 121) is technically not feasible and the OECD 106 study has not been performed, the only available option is to calculate the organic carbon-normalized sorption coefficient for soil and sediment (Koc). The Koc of the substance has been calculated with EUSES version 2.1, based on logKow, by using the in EUSES default QSAR for the chemical class non-hydrophobics:
Koc = (10.47 x Kow^0.52)/1000 (with Koc in m3/kg)
GLP compliance:
no
Type:
Koc
Value:
236.4 L/kg
Temp.:
20 °C
Type:
log Koc
Value:
2.37 dimensionless
Temp.:
20 °C
Validity criteria fulfilled:
not applicable
Conclusions:
The organic carbon-normalized sorption coefficient for soil and sediment; i.e. Koc, of this substance has been calculated with EUSES version 2.1, based on log Kow, by using the default QSAR model (for non-hydrophobics). The calculated Koc and log Koc values are 236.4 L/kg and 2.37, respectively.

Description of key information

As the surfactant part of the substance is present as sodium carboxylates at environmental pH, the substance is expected to partition predominantly to the aquatic compartment and minimally adhere to organic matter. For the environmental CSA, the Koc of the substance has been calculated based on logKow. The calculated Koc value is 236.4 L/kg.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Koc at 20 °C:
236.4

Additional information

As the screening study (OECD 121) is technically not feasible and the OECD 106 study has not been performed, the only available option is to calculate the organic carbon-normalized sorption coefficient for soil and sediment (Koc). The Koc of the substance has been calculated with EUSES version 2.1, based on log Kow (2.6), by using the in EUSES default QSAR for the chemical class non-hydrophobics: Koc = (10.47 x Kow^0.52)/1000 (with Koc in m3/kg). The calculated Koc and logKoc values are 236.4 L/kg and 2.37, respectively.
