First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
General information:
Personal protection for the First Aider:
- Immediately remove any clothing soiled by the product;
- Take affected persons out of danger area and lay down;
- Position and transport stably in side position;
- Artificial respiration with respiration bag or respirator.

After inhalation:
- Take affected persons into fresh air and keep quiet;
- Seek medical treatment in case of complaints.

After skin contact:
- Immediately wash with water and soap and rinse thoroughly;
- If skin irritation continues, consult a doctor.

After eye contact:
- Rinse opened eye for several minutes under running water. Then consult a doctor.

After swallowing:
- Rinse out mouth and then drink plenty of water;
- Vomiting, possible danger of aspiration, keep breathing passages free;
- Induce vomiting only, if affected person is fully conscious;
- Seek medical treatment.

Information for doctor:
Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed:
- No further relevant information available.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed:
- No further relevant information available.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing agents:
- CO2, powder or water spray. Fight larger fire with alcohol resistant foam.

For safety reasons unsuitable extinguishing agents: Water with full jet

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
- Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide;
- Hydrogen chloride (HCl);
- Phosgene gas;
- (Traces);
- Danger of forming toxic pyrolysis products.

Advice for firefighters
Protective equipment:
- Wear fully protective suit;
- Do not inhale explosion gases or combustion gases;
- Self-contained respiratory protective device.

Additional information
- Cool endangered receptacles with water spray;
- Collect contaminated fire fighting water separately. It must not enter the sewage system.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
- Use respiratory protective device against the effects of fumes/dust/aerosol;
- Wear protective equipment. Keep unprotected persons away;
- Keep away from ignition sources.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter sewers/ surface or ground water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:
- Absorb with liquid-binding material (sand, diatomite, acid binders, universal binders, sawdust);
- Dispose contaminated material as waste according to item 13;
- Ensure adequate ventilation.

Reference to other sections: Contain bigger quantities and pump into suitable receptacle.

Handling and storage

Handling:
Precautions for safe handling:
- Ensure good interior ventilation, especially at floor level. (Fumes are heavier than air);
- Prevent formation of aerosols.

Information about fire - and explosion protection: Keep ignition sources away - Do not smoke.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:
Storage:
Requirements to be met by storerooms and receptacles:
- Store only in the original receptacle;
- Provide solvent resistant, sealed floor.

Information about storage in one common storage facility:
- Do not store together with strong acids, alkalines and oxidation agents;
- Store away from metals.

Further information about storage conditions:
- Store in cool, dry conditions in well sealed receptacles;
- Store receptacle in a well ventilated area;
- Avoid contact with air / oxygen (formation of peroxide).

Recommended storage temperature: at 15 °C to 25 °C.
Specific end use(s): No further relevant information available.

Exposure controls / personal protection

1. Technical protection measures
General protective and hygienic measures:
- Do not inhale gases / fumes / aerosols / dust;
- Immediately remove all soiled and contaminated clothing;
- Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.

2. Organisational protection measures

3. Hand protection
- Protective gloves;
- Material of gloves: Neoprene gloves.
- Penetration time of glove material: ≥ 8 h. The exact break trough time has to be found out by the manufacturer of the protective gloves and has to be observed.
- Not suitable are gloves made of the following materials: leather gloves, strong material gloves.
4. Feet protection:
- Not specified.
5. Body protection:
- Light weight protective clothing.
6. Eye protection:
- Tightly sealed goggles.
7. Respiratory protection:
- Use suitable respiratory protective device in case of insufficient ventilation;
- In case of brief exposure or low pollution use respiratory filter device. In case of intensive or longer exposure use self-contained respiratory protective device.
Recommended filter device for short term use: Filter A.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
Chemical stability
Thermal decomposition / conditions to be avoided:
- No decomposition if used according to specifications.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
- Reacts with strong acids, alkalines and oxidizing agents;
- Danger of polymerization;
- Reacts with powdered metals.

Conditions to avoid: No further relevant information available.
Incompatible materials: No further relevant information available.

Hazardous decomposition products:
- Carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide;
- Hydrogen chloride (HCl);
- Phosgen;
- (Traces);
- Danger of forming toxic pyrolysis products.

Additional information:
The substance is very reactive, and will lead, especially in contact with strong acids, alkalines, metals and the salts of them, to quick, possibly explosive, polymerisation. Overheating can also lead to a spontaneous, possibly explosive, exothermic polymerisation.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Recommendation :
- Disposal considering to the local / regional / national / international regulations. Details have to be arranged with the authority concerned and / or the local waste management enterprise.

Waste disposal key:
Depending on the application intended by the consumer, the allocation of waste codes according to the European waste catalogue has to be carried out in agreement with the waste disposal company and the authority.

Uncleaned packaging:
Recommendation:
- Packagings that may not be cleansed are to be disposed of in the same manner as the product.
