Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Vapour pressure:
< 0.001 mBar
Remarks on result:
other: the temperature was measured to be 100 °F

Measurement

Vapor Pressure at 100°F: <0.001 mm Hg

Conclusions:
A vapour pressure value of <0.001 mBar at 38°C was determined for the substance using a relevant test method. The result is considered to be reliable.
Executive summary:

Tetracosanol was determined according ASTM D 2879. The vapour pressure was determined to be <0.001mBar at 100 °F (38°C).

Description of key information

The vapour pressure of a commercial sample of tetracosan-1-ol is <0.001 mBar (equivalent to <0.1 Pa) at 38°C. The vapour pressure of a pure sample has been estimated using a validated QSAR as 3.2E-07 Pa at 25°C, using the MPBPVP software from EPI Web 4.0 (2009)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Vapour pressure:
0 Pa
at the temperature of:
25 °C

Additional information

A vapour pressure value of <0.01 mBar (<0.1 Pa) at 38°C was determined for tetracosan-1-ol with the use of an isoteniscope method in accordance with ASTM D 2879. The result is considered to be reliable.

It is supported by a QSAR estimated value of 3.2E-07 Pa at 25°C, using the MPBPVP software from EPI Web 4.0 (2009). The quantified QSAR estimate at ambient temperature is used in environmental modelling.

Discussion of trends in the Category of C6-24 linear and essentially-linear aliphatic alcohols:

As chain length increases, vapour pressure decreases. This is because molecular weight is higher and intermolecular forces in the substance are all higher.
