Additional information

The biodegradation of 6,6'-di-tert-butyl-4,4'-diethyl-2,2'-methylenediphenol was tested in accordance with Japanese National Standard Method "Microbial Degradation of Chemical Substances" set forth in "“Testing Methods for New Chemical Substances etc.” (Manufacturing Industries Bureau No. 2, Environmental Policy Bureau Notice No. 031121004 (Revised November 20, 2006)). Activated sludge (30 mg/l) was exposed to 100 mg/L test substance for a period of 28 days. The study was performed using three replicates at a temperature of approximately 25°C. The degradation of the test substance was surveyed by measuring the oxygen consumption and analysing the test material by HPLC. The degradation of the test substance over the period of 28 days was 0% according to BOD HPLC analysis. It was therefore concluded that 6,6'-di-tert-butyl-4,4'-diethyl-2,2'-methylenediphenol is not readily biodegradable under the test conditions.
