Description of key information

An indirect photolysis experiment was performed in TGIC showing a photodegradation range of 26-73 days in water and 12 - 40 days for soil. The half-life for photooxidation was estimated by EPA to be 7 hours in the atmosphere. Since there were no adequate data for TGIC, the values for herbicide triazines were used. The studies that we reference are: The Photodegradation of Triazine-Based Pesticides 2,3-, and Photodegradation of Sodium Cyanurate and Selected Herbicides in Aqueous Solutions and Soil. Concentration Value: pH ca. 7 with 193, 248, 266 and 308 nm light. Unit: nm, Photon energies: 6.40, 5.00, 4.67, and 4.03 eV). Direct Photolysis Precision:= Direct Photolysis: 0% after 20 ns.

No Photodegradation on TGIC has been performed, but there is a variety of tests performed with different herbicide triazines (atrazine, simazine, others), which can be used as surrogates for TGIC. Phototransformation in air has been deduced from a group of herbicide triazines which slightly different active side chains, such as Atrazine. Atrazine has a direct photolytic half-life in air

of 1 - 39 hours, or in average about 20 hours (= approximately 1 day). As the most resistent part of the molecule is the triazine ring the difference between different triazines is expected to be small, e.g. with half-lfes of 0.5 - 5 days. Thus the value introduced from herbicide Triazines is the best estimate in the absence of solid data from TGIC. be used for cross reading.
