Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: Foam. Dry powder. Carbon dioxide (CO2). Water spray jet.

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Hazardous combustion products: Nitrogen oxides (NOx). Carbon monoxide.

Advice for firefighters

Self-contained breathing apparatus (EN 133).

Additional advice:

The product itself does not burn. Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the

surrounding environment.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

In the case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice.

Environmental precautions

Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up

Use mechanical handling equipment. Put into suitable containers and take for recycling or disposal. Dispose of

recovered material according to the regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Specific requirements or handling rules: Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Tightly

seal any begun barrels after use. Limit the inventory of substances at the workplace to the amount required for

continued operations. The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs.

Floors, walls and other surfaces must be regularly cleaned. Use approved industrial vacuum cleaners (of the H

class) for cleaning only.

Fire prevention measures: Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Environmental precautions: Positively avoid ingress into the soil. Observe and comply with any legislation

governing the storage or use of water-hazardous substances.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Requirements for storage areas and containers: Provide sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work rooms.

Route exhaust air into the open air via appropriate separators or scrubbers only. Positively avoid ingress into the

soil. Observe and comply with any legislation governing the storage or use of water-hazardous substances. Keep

and store locked up, with access only for competent personnel. Store, handle or transport in tightly sealed, clearly

and visibly marked containers only.

German storage class: 6.1D - Non-combustible, acute toxic or hazardous materials causing chronic effects

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

Exposure limit(s): none

Biological occupational exposure limits: none

Exposure controls

Engineering measures:

Design all manufacturing processes such that inhalation of the substance as well as skin or eye contact will be

prevented. Use sealed devices for refilling, metering or sampling wherever possible. Extract any dust immediately

at the point of origin when handling open systems. Keep the number of people working in the affected areas as low

as possible.

Personal protective equipment:

Eye/face protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles.

Hand protection:

Glove material: Nitrile rubber

Ensure that the type of material and the quality of the body protective equipment correspond with the recommendations

of the producer for your particular type of work.

Skin and body protection: Light protective clothing.

Hygiene measures: When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Take off all contaminated clothing

immediately. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

Respiratory protection: Not required.

General protective measures:

No special protective equipment required.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability

Heating can release hazardous gases.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

Conditions to avoid

Keep away from heat and sources of ignition.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Waste from residues:

In accordance with the waste recycling/disposal regulations, has to be taken to an approved waste disposal facility.

The classification of the waste has to be made according to its source in accordance with the European waste code

regulations.

Contaminated packaging:

Disposal according to the regulations, contaminated packaging has to be treated in the same way as the substance

itself. Packaging should be completely emptied, and then taken to an approved recycler after appropriate cleaning.

Recommended cleaning agent: Water
