Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
appearance / physical state / colour
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
1994-04-20 to 1994-06-02
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study with acceptable restrictions
Remarks:
Data comes from the description of the test substance in the GLP report on other physico-chemical properties. Purity is specified, however batch number is not identified, so the isomers composition could not be retrieved from the notifier. Therefore full validation cannot apply.
Qualifier:
no guideline required
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Visual observation.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
UK GLP compliance programme (inspected on 31 January 1994 / signed on 16 March 1994)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Storage condition of test material: metal canister at 4°C in the dark
Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid
Key result
Form:
liquid
Colour:
clear, colourless to pale straw coloured
Substance type:
organic

Observations were recorded at vapour condensation temperature of 22 and 20°C, and atmospheric pressure of 100.42 and 102.48 kPa, for determinations 1 and 2 respectively.

Executive summary:

The substance was tested under GLP for physico-chemical properties, including boiling point measurement by distillation; description of the sample at ambient temperature and upon heating is provided in the report.

At ambient temperature, the substance is described as a clear, colourless to pale straw coloured, liquid. No change is observed when heated up to 300°C.

Description of key information

Clear, colourless to pale straw coloured, liquid.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Physical state at 20°C and 1013 hPa:
liquid

Additional information

Experimental studies were conducted, under GLP, for the determination of physicochemical properties of the substance, including reliable description of the test sample. Despite restrictions due to substance identification (isomers composition unknown), it is considered as key data. The result is retained as key value for purpose of CSA.
