Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The degradation of trimethylolpropane in air by reaction with OH-radicals was estimated with the generally accepted AOP programme (v1.92). The half life was calculated to be approx. 28 hours (equivalent to 1.2 days).

Additional information

Key study:

The degradation of trimethylolpropane in air by reaction with OH-radicals was estimated with the generally accepted AOP programme (v1.92). Based on a 24 h day with an OH radical concentration of 0.5 E06 OH/cm³ the overall OH rate constant was calculated to be 13.7987 E-12 cm³/molecule*sec, leading to a half-life of approx. 28 hours (equivalent to 1.2 days).

Further study:

The degradation of trimethylolpropane in air by reaction with OH-radicals was estimated with the Atkinson and with the MOOH-method:

a) Atkinson: Based on a 12 h day with a OH radical concentration of 1.5 E06 OH/cm³, a half-life of 0.86 days was estimated.

b) The calculation according to the MOOH-method resulted in a half-life of 1.85 days.

For this modelling too few data were reported for assessing the reliability. Nevertheless, the result is comparable to the key result.
