Description of key information

The substance does not contain any functional groups identified in the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria, Appendix 6, Table A6.1, as being associated with explosive properties. Therefore, according to Regulation (EC) no. 1907/2006, Annex VII, 7.11, column 2, the study does not need to be performed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

Explosive properties are not expected based on chemical structure assessment lacking any functional groups typically associated with explosive properties

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to REACH REGULATION No 1907/2006 (EC) Official Journal of the European Union L 396/322, the study does not need to be conducted since there is no chemical group associated with explosive properties present in the molecule. Consequently, L-menthol is considered to be non-explosive according to CLP and DSD.
