Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The registration substance, iso-propyl alcohol (IPA), is readily biodegradable, has a low log Kow value (0.05) and displayed low toxicity in the short- and long-term aquatic toxicity tests (all values ≥1000 mg/L). Any toxicity observed in experimental tests, if at all, was well above all thresholds for classification & labelling (100 mg/l) and for some species, even orders of magnitudes above. Therefore, no hazard is expected for the environmental compartments and no PNEC values have been derived.

Conclusion on classification

The substance has reliable short-term E(L)C50 values of >1000 mg/l, long-term aquatic NOELR values of >1000 mg/L (based on QSAR data), it is readily biodegradable and has a log Kow value < 3 (0.05).

These data are consistent with the following classification under Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (as amended) (CLP):

Acute toxicity: Not classified.

Chronic toxicity: Not classified
