Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Information regarding this endpoint was read-across to Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether (CAS 68609-97-2) to Alkyl (C13-C15) glycidyl ether (CAS 68081-84-5). Based on an activated sludge respiration inhibition test study, The 3-hour NOEC and IC50 for Alkyl (C13-C15) glycidyl ether is 100 mg/L and > 100 mg/L, respectively. A summary of a previous study perfomed on Alkyl (C12-C14) glycidyl ether is also available and reported no effects up to 10.000 mg/L.

Additional information

The read-across to alkyl (C12 -C14) glycidyl ether from alkyl (C13 -C15) glycidyl ether is appropriate for this endpoint as the use of surrogate data from a structurally similar chemical is considered to be acceptable. Furthermore, study results including physico-chemical properties, ecotoxicology and mammalian toxicology indicate similar characteristics.

In the activated sludge respiration inhibition test performed with alkyl (C13 -C15) glycidyl ether, the substance did not induce any inhibition of respiration of the activated sludge over a 3 -hour exposure. The 3 -hour IC50 was reported to be greater than 100 mg/L. The value of 100 mg/L was selected as key value for this endpoint.
