Advice to physician
Symptomatic treatment is advised.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media
All media.
Unsuitable extinguishing media
None known.
Hazardous decomposition / combustion products
Carbon Monoxide, carbon dioxide, phosphine, NOx
Protective equipment
In case of insufficient ventilation wear suitable respiratory equipment.
Fire and explosion hazard
Substance itself is not flammable or explosive. The product could react with metals with evolution of highly flammable hydrogen.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions
For personal protection See EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION. Do not handle until all safety precautions have been read and understood. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
Environmental precautions
Avoid release to the environment.
Collect leaking substance with suited acid proof containers. Do not allow to enter into drain or surface waters. Retain material with earth, diatomeous earth and universal absorbant. Collect contaminated material in suited acid proof containers. Dispose of contaminated material and its container as hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Methods for cleaning up
Neutralise small spillages with lime or soda ash. Rinse remnant with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Handling
The usual precautions for handling chemicals should be observed. Avoid any direct contact with the material.

Reaction with strong oxidising agents. Reaction with alkaline substances (bases).
Stability
Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions See HANDLING AND STORAGE.
Incompatibilities
The product could react with metals with evolution of highly flammable hydrogen.
Hazardous decomposition products
Carbon Monoxide, carbon dioxide, phosphine, NOx
By heating evolution of corrosive and toxic hydrogen chloride gas/aerosols.
By contact with strong oxidants (bleaching agents, H2O2, HNO3, etc) possible evolution of toxic chlorine gas.

Disposal considerations

Product
Please refer to your specific industry in the European Waste Catalogue. Dispose of material as hazardous waste according to local regulations.
Contaminated packaging
Dispose of contaminated packaging/containers as hazardous waste according to local regulations.
