Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life in air:
6.2 d

Additional information

The first order rate constant of 6.2 days for degradation in air was calculated using EQUATION R.16-18, KDEGAIR = kOH • OHCONCAIR • 24 • 3600 where the kOH = specific degradation rate constant with OH-radicals 2.6E-12 cm3.molec-1.s-1(Acerboni, et al., 2001) and OHCONCair = concentration of OH-radicals in atmosphere = 5E5 molec.cm-3. Atmospheric oxidation in laboratory studies resulted in the formation of carbonyl fluoride and trifluoroacetyl fluoride. These degradates are incorporated into raindrops/aerosols in the atmosphere and in the water phase degraded to trifluoroacetic acid, hydrogen fluoride, and carbon dioxide (Acerboni et al.,2001)
