Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

2-methylpropan-1-ol: 85 g/L

3-methylbutan-1-ol: 2.67 g/L

2-methylbutan-1-ol: 3 g/L

Ethanol: 789 g/L

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The water solubility of fusel oil is based on a weight of evidence using experimental data for the main components of the substance (ethanol (CAS 64-17-5), 2-methylpropan-1-ol (CAS-78-83-1), 3-methylbutan-1-ol (CAS 123-51-3) and 2-methylbutan-1-ol (CAS 137-32-6)).

Individually, the solubility of the components of fusel oil are soluble (2.67 g/L for 3 -methylbutan-1-ol and 3 g/L for 2-methylbutan-1-ol), or very soluble (789 g/L for ethanol, 85 g/L for 2-methylpropan-1-ol). The fusel oil substance is reported as immiscible / partly miscible, but no quantitative data is available.

The individual solubility of the main components is used to determine the overall solubility of the fusel oil mixture. Depending on the composition of the substance, the substance should be described as either soluble or highly soluble.
