Per OECD 301A guideline test, n-Vinylpyrrolidone is considered readily biodegradable

Guideline study results indicate the n-Vinylpyrrolidone (nVP) undergoes rapid biodegradation in water. In an OECD 301A guideline study, nVP was readily biodegradable (BASF, 1995) and, in an OECD 302B guideline study, nVP biodegraded rapidly and completely such that it can be classified as readily biodegradable (BASF, 1979). These results are supported by an estimate of ready biodegradability using US EPA BioWin (v4.10) which predicts nVP can be considered readily biodegradable (ISP 2010).
