JUSTIFICATION FOR DATA WAIVING
In accordance with column 2 of REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006, Annex VII, section 8.2, an in vitro study for eye irritation do not need to be conducted if the available information indicates that the criteria are met for classification as corrosive to the skin or irritating to eyes. Lithium hydroxide and its monohydrate are regarded as skin corrosive (Cat. 1B (H314) according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP)). For this reason, lithium hydroxide and its monohydrate have to be classified as corrosive to the eyes: “Causes serious eye damage, hazard Cat. 1 (H318)” according to Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP). No further test is needed.
