Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Algae:

The 72h-EC50 for growth rate inhibition (ERC50) and yield inhibition (EYC50) exceeded a
loading rate of 6.3 μg/L. The 72h-NOEC for both growth rate inhibition and yield inhibition was 6.3 μg/L.
Due to the very low solubility of Pigment Orange 5 in water, concentration levels that might be toxic for algae could not be reached.

Daphnia:

In the acute Daphnia study, C.I. Pigment Orange 5 showed no biologically significant effects at the saturated solution of the test item. Therefore, The EC50 (48h( was determined to be higher than the concentration of a saturated solution.

In the long-term Daphnia reproduction study, Pigment Orange 5 did not affect reproduction, growth and survival of Daphnia magna at the highest tested concentration of 6.3 µg/L after 21 days of exposure (NOEC).

 Long term Fish:

NOEC (embryonic survival, post-hatch survival, body weight, body length) ≥ 6.3 μg/L, based on analytically confirmed nominal concentrations.

Additional information

No toxic effect was observed at the water solubility (6.3 μg/L) of the test substance at any of the aquatic toxicity tests.
