Based on REACH guidance, the study does not need to be conducted because the test substance is inorganic. However, sodium borohydride rapidly hydrolyzes in water to form sodium borate/boric acid and hydrogen gas with a half-lives ranging from seconds to minutes at environmentally relevant pHs. The log partition coefficient n-octanol/water (Log Pow) of boric acid was reported to be -1.09 ± 0.16 (22 ± 1 ºC), pH 7.5.
