The large difference between the values for the centrifuged and uncentrifuged samples at 0, 1, 2 and 3 hours indicates a significant excess of undissolved material over the time course of the study. Therefore, saturation was maintained over the 3 -hour time window. Note that the amount of material for the centrifuged values appears to increase slightly over the 3 -hour time period. The increase could be due to a slight change in temperature over time( the system was not maintained at a constant temperature) or to hydrolysis of the testsubstance releasing degradation products (such as TBA) wich could have acted as cosolvents to dissolve more of the parent compound. The reported solubility was determined by using linear regression to find the intercept of the concentration vs time function for all samples over three hours.

The water solubility was determined to be 152 µg/L in purified water under ambient conditions. DMHBP was shown to hydrolyze in water, with a loss of greater than 90% after 24 hours at pH 4, 7 and 9 at a temperature of 50°C. One of the hydrolysis products was identified as tertiary-butyl alcohol.
