Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
auto-ignition temperature (liquids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2010-09-20 to 2010-09-22
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study without detailed documentation
Remarks:
Limited information on test substance
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to same study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: DIN EN 14522 (Method 8)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
Lacking detail and information on test substance.
GLP compliance:
no
Specific details on test material used for the study:
- Name as cited in study report: Polyetheramine D 230
- Color: colorless
- Test substance receipt: 2010-09-16
- Analytical Purity: 100%
Key result
Auto-ignition temperature:
230 °C
Atm. press.:
1 009 - <= 1 012 mBar
Remarks on result:
other: Ambient temperature 19-22 deg C during testing; at atm. press. of 1009.0 - <=1012.0 mBar

Additional Remarks on Results :

- Lowest temperature value is reduced by the absolute deviation calculated using the reproducibility value (1.5% rel.).

- Electrical equipment which may be in contact with explosive mixtures of the test substance and air, has to be of temperature class T3 or higher.

- Results relate only to the substance tested.

- Electrical and non-electrical equipment may be used in areas where there is a danger of explosion only if it has been approved for the relevant temperature class.

- In the interior of large heated containers or reactors, flammable gasses and vapours can be ignited in a range up to 50°C below there AIT measured according to the cited standard. Where there are catalytic effects, the temperature effects can be even greater.

Conclusions:
The autoignition temperature (AIT) of the test substance was found to be 230 °C.

Description of key information

The autoignition temperature (AIT) of the test substance was found to be 230 °C (Ambient temperature 19-22 °C during testing) (BASF, 2010).
