Abiotic degradation

The substance is predicted to be stable in the environment due to the intrinsic properties of organic pigments. As the substances comprised by the Monoazo Red Pigments (C.I. Pigment Red 3, Pigment Red 4, and Pigment Orange 5) are highly insoluble in water, no studies on Abiotic degradation had been conducted. Therefore, no conclusion on abiotic degradation is possible from experimental data.

Biotic degradation

The substance is poorly biodegradable in water. Therefore comparable low degradation rates are expected for decomposition in surface water and sediment and in soil.
