Additional information

Short-term aquatic toxicity was assessed using 3 species of invertebrates (Daphnia magna, Dugesia tigrina, and Helisoma trivolvis) and one vertebrate fish species (Pimephales promelas) over a 96-hour exposure at concentrations greater than or equal to 100 mg/L. No adverse effects were observed in any of the studies. A subsequent 96-hour acute study with Pimephales promelas was conducted as a limit test at a mean measured concentration of 125.3 mg/L and no adverse effects were observed. A 72-hour algal growth inhibition study was also conducted using Selenastrum capricornutum at a mean measured concentration of 122.9 mg/L. No inhibition of growth rate or biomass was observed in that study. The substance has also been determined to be readily biodegradable, therefore toxicity to microorganisms or long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates or fish is not expected.
