Additional information

Acute toxicity studies have been conducted in fish and Daphnia. An estimated LC50 value of 519 mg/L was calculated for green algae using the EPIWIN model (QSAR). In summary, reported results indicated no acute toxicity to fish or daphnids with an LC50 value of 841 mg/L in fish (96 hr) and an EC50 value >1000 mg/L in daphnids (48 hr).

Dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether (DPnB) is classified as readily biodegradable and aquatic toxicity data indicate no acute toxicity to aquatic species (no classification , PNEC - 0.519 mg.L). The risk assessment shows that the PEC/PNEC ratio is clearly < 1, indicating no need for further information or testing. According to REACH Annex IX requirements, long-term toxicity testing shall only be considered when the chemical safety assessment indicates the need for further investigations. Therefore, long-term testing in aquatic species (fish and Daphnia magna) can be waived for DPnB.
