Description of key information

The flammability limits of dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether were found to be 0.6 % at 145 °C for the lower limit and 20.4 % at 180 °C for the upper limit at atmospheric pressure. The flash point of dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether is determined to be 100 °C according to the Setaflash closed cup method. Dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether is considered non flammable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable

Additional information

Dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether has a flash point greater than 55 °C (100 °C) and a boiling point greater than 35 °C (230 °C). Therefore no classification for flammability according to EU criteria is required.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Dipropylene glycol n-butyl ether has a flash point greater than 55 °C (100 °C) and a boiling point greater than 35 °C (230 °C). Therefore no classification for flammability according to EU criteria is required.
