Benzyldimethylamine was shown to be 100 % inherently biodegradable
after 13 days and to 70% within 7 days and thus fulfilled the criterion
for inherent, ultimately biodegradability (BASF, 1987).
Thus, Benzyldimethylamine was not considered persistent.
Benzyldimethylamine was determined to be none or not highly
bioaccumulative. The BCF at a concentration of 500 µg/L is 2.1 to 6.4,
and at a concentration of 50 µg/L the BCF is < 6.2 to 22 (MITI-Online,
Thus, Benzyldimethylamine was not considered bioaccumulative.
Based on the results of the toxicity assessment,
Benzyldimethylamine does not fulfil the toxic criterion as the NOEC in
Daphnia and algae was determined to be > 0.01 mg/l.
