Appearance:

The substance is an organic colorless liquid at 20 ºC and 1013 hPa.

Odor:

The substance has a characteristic, ester-like odor.

 

Freezing point:

The freezing point is approx. -80 °C.

 

Boiling point:

The boiling point was determined to be 164 °C at ca. 1013 hPa, applying the DSC-method.

 

Density:

Density was determined to be 1.0767 g/cm³ at 20 °C, using the densitometer method.

Particle size distribution:

Substance is a liquid, therefore study technically not feasible.

 

Vapor pressure:

Vapor pressure was determined to be 0.187 hPa at 20 °C, 0.354 hPa at 25 °C and 4.34 hPa at 50 °C, applying the dynamic method.

 

Partition coefficient:

The log Pow was determined to be -0.4 at 20 °C, using the flask shake method.

 

Water solubility:

The water solubility was determined to be > 1000 g/L at 20 °C (miscible with water at every ratio).

Solubility in organic solvents:

The substance is either soluble in or completely miscible with most of the common aliphatic and aromatic organic solvents such as alcohols, esters, ketones etc.

Surface tension:

Test not performed; surface activity is not to be expected based on the chemical structure of the test item.

 

Flash point:

The flash point was determined to be 63.5 °C at atmospheric pressure, using the Pensky Martens closed cup method.

Flammability:

Study is scientifically unjustified. The flammability of liquids is determined on basis of their flashpoint, their ability to emit flammable gases upon contact with water and their pyrophoricity. The molecular structure of the test item does not contain groups that indicate potential reactivity with water or pyrophoric properties and handling of the substance indicates that this is the case.

Auto flammability:

The self-ignition temperature was determined to be 375 °C at 1007 hPa, using DIN method 51794.

 

Explosiveness:

The substance does not exhibit explosive properties.

 

Oxidizing properties:

The substance does not exhibit oxidizing properties.

Stability in organic solvents:

The substance is stable in the common organic aliphatic and aromatic solvents such as alcohols, ketones, ethers, hydrocarbons etc.

Storage stability:

The substance is stable under standard storage conditions (room temperature, closed containers, dry place) for at least two years.

Stability (thermal. sunlight, air)

The substance was found to be stable in air and to heat; the exothermic decomposition starts at 231°C with a mean energy of 125 J/g.

Dissociation Constant:

Study not conducted as the test substance has no dissociable groups. According to ECHA Chapter 7, pKa is irrelevant.

Viscosity:

Dynamic viscosity was determined to be 1.8 mPa.s at 20 °C.
