Studies are available for toxicity to daphnia, algae and activated
sludge microorganisms. Public studies are available for acute toxicity
to fish both giving experimental and QSAR values.
The 96-hour LC50 of hexyl acetate to fish was found to be 4.4 mg/L. Two
public domain studies were found which assessed the acute toxicity of
hexyl acetate to fish. Eldred et al. (1999) gave an
experimentally determined value for the acute toxicity to fish of 4.4
mg/L. Similarly, Veith et al (1985) found that the LC50 was 4.4 mg/L. As
such, a weight of evidence approach has been taken and the lowest
relevant EC50 for fish is 4.4 mg/L.
The 48-hour EC50 of hexyl acetate to Daphnia magna was determined
to be 9.1 mg/L.
The 72-hour EC50 of hexyl acetate to algae was found to be 12mg/L and
the NOEC was found to be 2.7 mg/L.
The 3-hour EC50 of hexyl acetate to STP microorganisms was found to be
100 -1000 mg/L (100 mg/L used for PNEC derivations as a conservative
assumption). The NOEC was 100 mg/L.
