Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Read across justification:

In support of the available studies, experimental data from an analogue substance were considered. The analogue substance (EC 211 -750 -5) only differs in the lenght of its alkyl side chain (C18H37 instead of C12H25). According to REACh Annex XI, paragraph 1.5 "Grouping of substances and read across approach", similarities may be based on (1) a common functional group and (2) a common precursor and/or the likelihood of common breakdown products via physical and biological processes, which result in structurally similar chemicals. For the analogue substance (EC 211 -750 -5) these criteria are definitely fulfilled and therefore, a supporting read across seems appropriate. For further details please confer to Annex 1 of the chemical safety report.

Due to the very low solubility and high adsorption potential of the test substance, a modified OECD 301 D test result (71 % in 28 days) on an analogue compound (EC no. 211 -750 -5) is considered to reflect most appropriately the biodegradation potential of the substance. Based on the modified OECD 301 D test result, the substance is considered as readily biodegradable without meeting the 10-day window.

Due to the ready biodegradability of the test substance, no further testing on biodegradation in water and sediment (simulation tests) and biodegradation testing in soil needs to be conducted for a registration under REACh (EC No. 1907/2006).
