Aquatic bioaccumulation

The aquatic bioaccumulation potential of Coco fatty acids 2-sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt has been evaluated based on the partitioning behaviour of the test substance between octanol and water. The log Kow value of -0.41 for Coco fatty acids 2 -sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt is based on the ratio of the solubility in octanol and water.

For Lauric acid 2 -sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt which is the main component of Coco fatty acids 2 -sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt a low Log Kow of 0.6 was calculated using ClogP. One log Kow value of -1.56 which was measured according to EU guideline A8 is available for octanoic acid 2 -sulfoethyl ester sodium salt.

The above weight of evidence indicates that the bioaccumulation potential of lauric acid 2-sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt in aquatic organisms is low. This is in line with the estimated BCF value of 70.8 calculated using the BCFBAF 3.01 submodule of Epiwin 4.1.

These results indicate that lauric acid 2-sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt has a low bioaccumulation potential.

Terrestrial bioaccumulation

Based on the weight of evidence presented under Section 4.3.1 of the CSR and considering the ready biodegradability of Coco fatty acids 2-sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt, it can be assumed that potential of lauric acid 2-sulfoethyl ester, sodium salt for bioaccumulation in terrestrial organisms is low.
