The partition coefficient (Log Pow) of Bourgeonal was determined to be 3.2.

The partition coefficient of the test item, Bourgeonal was determined according to OECD guideline 117, HPLC method. The average retention times of 2.42 to 4.48 minutes (based on duplicate values) for seven substances known to have log Pow in the range 1.1 to 5.1 respectively were used to assess the log Pow of Bourgeonal under similar conditions.
Thiorea was used as an unretained substance to determine the dead time t0 (average of two determinations to be 2.12 mins.).
The determination was performed at 35°C (temperature of the column), but the value obtained can be considered to represent the value at an unspecified, probably ambient temperature since no mention is made in the guidelines of the temperatures at which the tabulated reference substance log Pow values were made.
The average retention time for Bourgeonal was 4.36 minutes corresponding to a log Pow of 3.2.
