Principles of method if other than guideline:
The density is determined by measuring the volume of a known mass of the test substance by means of a gas displacement pycnometer. In gas pycnometric density measurements, the volume determined excludes the volume occupied by open pores; however, it includes the volume occupied by sealed pores or pores inaccessible to the gas. The volume occupied by the test substance is determined from the exactly known volumes of the empty test chamber and expansion chamber, determined by calibration, and the pressure change of an inert gas (usually helium) in the test chamber, that results when the connection to the expansion chamber is opened.

Additional information

The density of tin disulfide was determined in a non-GLP Klimisch 1 key study (Paß 2011) according to methods DIN 66137-2 and Ph.Eur. 2.9.23 at 28.7°C using a helium pygnometer. The results were corrected for 20°C. The density was determined to be of 4.556 g*cm-3(=4556 kg*m-3). The corresponding relative density is 4.556.

The obtained values are considered relevant and reliable.
