Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Available information:
1,1 -DPE:
48h- LC50: 1.2 mg/l (measured) for saturated solutions and 1.4 mg/l (measured) for spiked solutions respectively.
48h-EC50: 6.2 mg/l (nominal): No analytical dose verification was possible (reliability 3).
Phenyltolylethane
48h-EC50:0.29 mg/l (measured)
SAS-40:
48h-EC50: 0.32 mg/l (measured)
SAS-296:
48h-EC50:0.39 mg/l (nominal)
SAS-296 1,4-dimethyl-2-(1-phenylethyl):
48 h EC50: 0.25 mg/L
SAS-305:
48h-EC50: >1.27 µg/L (highest test concentration measured in a saturated solution)
Benzyltoluene:
48h-LC50: 0.94 mg/l (measured) for saturated solutions and 1.0 mg/l (measured)for spiked solutions respectively.
Faradol 810 (without epoxide):
48h-EC50: 1.2 mg/l (measured)
Faradol 810 (with epoxide):
48h-EC50: 1.6 mg/l (measured)
QSARs - Data based on calculations using EPI Suite v4.10 (KOCWIN (Molecular Connectivity Method; worst case)/ ECOSAR Program v1.00. ECOSAR is a known and reliable calculation tool for this endpoint and therefore this estimation can be used in a weight-of-evidence approach. For PTE the calculated 48 h EC50 was 0.54 mg/L, for 11-DPE was 0.14 mg/L, for BT was 0.64 mg/L, for SAS-296 was 0.21 mg/L and for SAS-305 was 0.11 mg/L.

Additional information

With regard to acute aquatic toxicity all members of the category seem to be toxic (“low mg range”) to aquatic species, with measured EC50values for invertebrates (daphnids) of approximately 0.3 to nearly 1.6 mg/l.

For 1,1 -DPE a GLP-compliant reliable study (reliability 1) is available and the lowest EC50 is used for risk assessment purposes. No further testing is required.
