Additional information

Oleic acid-based IQAC, DMS quaternised is not stable in the environment. The substance is inherently biodegradable and rapidly hydrolysable at neutral to alkaline pH values within a few days. In the atmosphere oleic acid-based IQAC, DMS quaternised, will be very quickly photodegraded by reaction with ozone and OH radicals. Due to the very low vapour pressure and the very low Henry's Law Constant the substance under investigation will not be present in the gas phase in the atmosphere in appreciable amounts and therefore this elimination path will be only of minor importance. Oleic-acid based IQAC, DMS quaternised is expected to have a low potential for bioaccumulation in aquatic and terrestrial organisms. Strong interaction with soils, sediment and suspended matter in natural environment will further reduce terrestrial bioaccumulation.
