flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
10 Jul 2012
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
according to guideline
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
not specified

The test item was formed into a particle train. A hot flame from a gas burner with a diameter of about 6 mm is used to ignite the pile at one end. In the preliminary screening test the substance does not ignite by a hot flame from a gas burner. The test item just melts.

According to the definition in the Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008EEC the test item Oleyl Palmitamide CAS-No. 16260-09-6 is not considered as flammable.

Interpretation of results:
non flammable

Description of key information

Flammability (solid): Non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

non flammable

Additional information

The flammability of the substance was determined according to EU Method A.10. Based on the chemical structure and experience in handling and use, pyrophoricity and flammability on contact with water are not expected.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available data on flammability of the test substance do not meet the criteria for classification according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC, and are therefore conclusive but not sufficient for classification: The substance is not combustible therefore not considered to be classified as flammable solid or as pyrophoric.
