First-aid measures

Inhalation:

If symptoms are experienced, move victim to fresh air and obtain medical advice.

Ingestion:

Do  not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth. Drink 1 or 2 glasses of water. If irritation or discomfort occurs, obtain medical advice immediately.

Skin:

Wash with soap and water. If irritation persists, obtain medical advice. Remove contaminated clothes.

Eye:

Do not allow victim to rub eye(s). Flush with lukewarm, gently flowing water for 5 minutes or until substance is removed. If irritation persists, obtain medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing Media:

Suitable Extinguishing Media: CO2, dry chemicals, foam or water

Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: None

Special Hazards: None

Hazardous Combustion Products: CO, CO2

Advice for Fire-fighters: Full protective clothing and self-contained breathing apparatus with chemical resistant gloves should be worn. Protective clothing should conform with European standard EN469, as a minimum.

Keep containers cool with water spray.

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment and Emergency Procedures:

Avoid inhalation. Use appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated in "Exposure controls/personal protection" below.

Environmental Precautions:

Do not wash away into sewer.

Methods and Material for Containment and Cleaning Up:

Absorb with an absorbing agent (soil, sand, rags, etc.) and place in closed containers for disposal. Ventilate area and wash spill site after material pickup is complete. Larger quantities should be collected and treated according to local regulation.

Handling and storage

Precautions for Safe Handling:

The substance should be handled under conditions of good industrial hygiene and in conformity with any local regulations in order to avoid unnecessary exposure.

Avoid breathing vapor. Use with adequate ventilation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.

Do not eat, drink and smoke in work areas; wash hands after use and to remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for Safe Storage, Including Any Incompatibilities:

Store in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight and/or ignition sources.

Keep away from oxidizing materials. Keep container tightly closed.

Exposure controls / personal protection

The provision of personal protective equipment and the need to provide engineering control measures should be decided upon by the user as part of a formal exposure risk assessment.

1. Technical protection measures

Engineering Controls:

Use process enclosures, local exhaust ventilation or other engineering controls to keep airborne concentrations below the exposure limits.

2. Hand protection

Chemical protective gloves to a Standard EN374 should be provided. Usage periods should not exceed the breakthrough times for the chemical stated by the manufacturer of the glove.

3. Body protection

Handling of the material should be done wearing chemical protective clothing suitable for protection against the chemical as classified by Standard EN368.

4. Eye protection

Eye protection should be used when handling the substance. The protection should be capable of giving chemical protection as classified in EN166. Wear safety glasses with side shields or goggles.

5. Respiratory protection

Based upon current information and in the absence of occupational exposure limits the use of a dust mask to a minimum standard of EN149 FFPI/vapour mask to a minimum standard of EN405 FFA1 is recommended.

Stability and reactivity

Chemical Stability: The substance is considered to be stable under normal ambient and anticipated storage and handling conditions of temperature and pressure.

Possibility of Hazardous Reactions: None

Conditions to Avoid:  Heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.

Incompatible Materials: Avoid strong oxidants

Hazardous Decomposition Products: CO, CO2

Disposal considerations

Waste Treatment Methods:

Dispose of by incineration or landfill in accordance with local regulations.
