PBT assessment: overall result

PBT status:
the substance is not PBT / vPvB
Justification:

To be considered as PBT, a substance should fulfil the criteria for persistence (P) and bioaccumulation (B) and toxicity (T). As it does not fulfill all criteria, catechol is not a PBTsubstance according to criteria of REACH Annex XIII.

To be considered as vPvB, a substance should fulfil the criteria for persistence (vP) and bioaccumulation (vB). As none of the criteria are fulfilled, catechol is not a vPvB substance according to criteria of REACH Annex XIII.

Consequently, in the case of catechol, there is no need to conduct an emission characterisation and a risk characterisation as a PBT or vPvB substance.
