1.88 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
0.154 mg/L

Additional information

A 72 -hour OECD algal growth inhibition study was carried out for amyl cinnamic aldehyde. Test solutions were prepared at nominal concentraions of 0 (control), 0.095, 0.19, 0.38, 0.75, 1.5 and 3.0 mg/l. Algae were distributed among twenty replicates of each control and 11 replicates of each treatment at the rate of approximately 10,000 cells/mL. The test was run at 24 ± 2˚C, with a 24 hour light, 0 hour dark photoperiod, and test vessels were shaken continuosly at 100rpm.

At 24, 48, and 72 hours, three treatment vessels and six control vessels were randomly selected and sacrificed to allow daily determination of the number of algal cells/mL. The 72-hour EC50 for growth rate was determined to be 1.88 mg/l and the corresponding NOEC was found to be 0.154 mg/l.
