Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key data: EC50(72 h) = 7.55 mg/L (growth rate); EC10(72h) = 3.22 mg/L (growth rate); NOEC(72 h) = 1.27mg/L (growth rate and biomass growth); LOEC(72 h) = 3.58 mg/L (growth rate and biomass growth)
(All effect levels are given based on geometrical mean measured concentrations).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
7.55 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
3.22 mg/L

Additional information

The toxicity test to aquatic algae (Scheerbaum 2012) performed according to EU Method C.3., OECD 201 and GLP was rated with RL=1 (reliable without restrictions) and used as a key study.

The results indicate that the test item inhibits the growth of the freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitatus after 72 hours with the following effect values (geometric mean measured test item concentrations):

The EC50-values with 95 % confidence intervals for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErC50) and yield (EyC50) after 72 hours were 7.55 (7.29 – 7.80) mg/L and 3.63 (3.27 - 4.05) mg/L, respectively.

The EC10-values with 95 % confidence intervals for inhibition of specific growth rate (ErC10) and yield (EyC10) after 72 hours were 3.22 (3.01 - 3.45)mg/L and 1.69 (1.22 - 2.30) mg/L, respectively.

The NOEC-values for inhibition of specific growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 1.27 mg/L and the LOEC-values for inhibition of specific growth rate and yield after 72 hours were 3.58 mg/L.
