Description of key information

The boiling range of 400160 was measured under GLP compliance using the distillation method according to DIN 53171 which corresponds to the EU Method A2.
Due to the nature of the test item a boiling range and not a specific boiling point could be determined. The boiling range of the test item 400160 was determined at 177 °C (450.8 K) to 364 °C (638.2 K) ±10°C. Signs of decomposition of the test item were observed.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Due to the nature of the test item a boiling range and not a specific boiling point could be determined.

The distillation method for boiling temperature was used. It involves distillation of the liquid and measurement of the vapour recondensation temperature and determination of the amount of distillate. A pre-test was performed in order to determine a possible decomposition of the test item. For the main test the distillation bulb was weighed and 100 mL of the test item were filled into the bulb. The apparatus was then assembled. Ambient pressure was measured once during distillation. Heating was done with a time difference of 50 min (second performance 40 min) from room temperature to the beginning of boiling. Start of boiling range was defined as the temperature at which the first drop fell into the measuring cylinder. This temperature was recorded. Distillation temperatures and volumes in the cylinder were noted every 20 to 30 sec. Distillation had to be stopped when the thermometer reached the upper limit. After cooling, the bulb was weighed again. The determination was performed in duplicate.
