First-aid measures

General advice : Immediate medical attention is required. Move out of dangerous area. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Burns may occur several hours after the removal of the product. Inhalation : Obtain medical attention immediately. If breathed in, move person into fresh air. Skin contact : Take off contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Carefully remove paste or solidified product. Wash skin immediately with 0,5 % acetic acid in water, and then with soap and water. Immediate medical treatment is necessary as untreated wounds from corrosion of the skin heal slowly and with difficulty. Skin irritation, if untreated may be prolonged and serious (eg necrosis). This may be prevented by early treatment with

medium strength corticosteroids. Eye contact : In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with 0.5% acetic acid in water for a few minutes, followed by rinsing with plenty of water for as long as possible. Eyelids should be held away from the eyeball to ensure thorough rinsing. Get medical attention immediately. Continue to rinse during transport. Remove contact lenses. Protect unharmed eye. Keep eye wide open while rinsing.

Small amounts splashed into eyes can cause irreversible tissue damage and blindness. Ingestion : Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Take victim immediately to hospital. Do not induce vomiting! May cause chemical burns in mouth and throat.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media : Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local  circumstances and the surrounding environment.

Unsuitable extinguishingmedia : High volume water jet Specific hazards during fire fighting / Specific hazards arising from the chemical

: Treat as oil fire. Do not use a solid water stream as it may scatter and spread fire. Water spray may be ineffective unless used by experienced

firefighters. Do not allow run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or water courses. Special protective equipment  for fire-fighters  : In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.Further information : Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains. Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : For personal protection see section 8. Use personal protective equipment. Ensure adequate ventilation. Environmental precautions : Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Methods for cleaning up / Methods for containment : Soak up with inert absorbent material (e.g. sand, silica gel, acid binder, universal binder, sawdust). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

Handling Advice on safe handling : For personal protection see section 8. Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the

application area. Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations. Advice on protection against fire and explosion

: Normal measures for preventive fire protection. Storage Requirements for storage areas and containers : Prevent unauthorized access. Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Avoid elevated temperatures Reacts with copper, aluminium, zinc and their alloys. Other data : No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Effective exhaust ventilation system Provide eyewash station and safety shower. Keep solutions of 0.5% acetic acid in water close at

hand. Personal protective equipment Respiratory protection : In the case of vapour or aerosol formation use a respirator with an approved filter. Wear full face mask supplied with: Gas cartridge K (ammonia, green). Combination filter ABEKP.

Hand protection : Nitrile rubber butyl-rubber Eye protection : Tightly fitting safety goggles Wear face-shield and protective suit for abnormal processing problems. Skin and body protection : Protective suit. Hygiene measures : Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. When using do not eat or drink. When using do not smoke. Wash hands before breaks and immediately after handling the product. Dry-clean contaminated clothes before reuse.

Environmental exposure controls General advice : Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. If the product contaminates rivers and lakes or drains inform respective authorities.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid : Extremes of temperature and direct sunlight. Hazardous decomposition products : No hazardous decomposition products are known. Chemical stability and Hazardous reactions : Note: Stable under normal conditions.

Disposal considerations

Product : The product should not be allowed to enter drains, water courses or the soil. Do not contaminate ponds, waterways or ditches with

chemical or used container. Hazardous waste Contaminated packaging : Empty remaining contents. Dispose of as unused product.

Do not re-use empty containers.
