Administrative data

First-aid measures

INHALATION: Move to fresh air. If symptoms persist, call a physician.

SKIN CONTACT: Remove contaminated clothes. Contact with powder or fines may cause irritation. Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if symptoms persist.

EYE CONTACT: Contact of powder may cause serious eye irritation. Flush wide open eye(s) with running water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical help immediately.

INGESTION: If swallowed, seek medical attention. May cause gastrointestinal irritation. Drink neutralising liquids like milk and/or dose drug grade activated coal.

Oxalic acid and boric acid may be released in prolonged contact with water and cause irritation.

Fire-fighting measures

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water mist. Dry powder. Foam.

SPECIAL HAZARDS ARISING FROM THE SUBSTANCE OR MIXTURE: Toxic fumes and gases may form (carbon dioxide and -monoxide).

ADVICE FOR FIREFIGHTERS: Fire fighting suit with self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

PERSONAL PRECAUTIONS, PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES: Use protective clothing and eye protection. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid dust formation.

ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS: Prevent from entering soil, water ways and ground water.

METHODS AND MATERIAL FOR CONTAINMENT AND CLEANING UP: Stop leak and contain spilled material if possible. Avoid dust formation. Collect in suitable and properly labelled containers. Reuse or recycle when possible. Dispose off according to local law and advice from authorities.

Handling and storage

PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Do not ingest. Do not breathe vapours, if formed.

CONDITIONS FOR SAFE STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry and well ventilated place protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. Store at room temperature (+15°C - 25°C).

Exposure controls / personal protection

TECHNICAL PROTECTION MEASURES: Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

EYE / FACE PROTECTION: Chemical goggles consistent with EN 166 or equivalent. In severe exposure, use a full-face respirator.

SKIN PROTECTION: Use protective clothing.

HAND PROTECTION: Gloves of chemical resistant material (latex, nitrile, neoprene or other rubber material). Use gloves with thermal protections when needed.

RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Usually not necessary. If exposure cannot be avoided use air purifying respirator with A2P3 filter to protect against particles and organic vapours or when no vapours are formed particle filter of EN 149 type.

Stability and reactivity

REACTIVITY: Do not expose to elevated temperature or water.

CHEMICAL STABILITY: May react with strong oxidising agents. Organic solvents may degrade the product.

POSSIBILITY OF HAZARDOUS REACTIONS: Formation of oxalic acid and boric acid.

CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Places of high humidity.

INCOMPATIBLE MATERIALS: Water, alkali, strong oxidisers.

HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: Oxalic acid, boric acid.

Disposal considerations

Hazardous waste. Dispose off according to laws and directives following the advice of local authorities.
