Additional information

Two reliable key studies (Lab Research, 2010) are available for this endpoint.

The two studies related to the hydrolysis of the DV-SOLV 1059 as a function of pH (tier I and II) were performed according to the OECD Guideline N°111 and the EU Method C.7. The validity criteria were met and the study has been performed in accordance with the Principles of Good Laboratory Practice Regulations.

In the course of the preliminary test (Tier I) the observed hydrolysis of DV-SOLV 1059 was less than 10 per cent after 5 days at a temperature of 50 °C at pH 4 and 7. Therefore DV-SOLV 1059 is considered to be hydrolytically stable under these circumstances and normally no additional testing is required at pH 4 and 7.

Significant decomposition was observed at pH 9; 5 % of the original concentration was measured. Hence the higher tier test should be performed at this pH value.

In the course of the Tier II, a sterile aqueous buffer solution of pH 9 was treated with the test susbtance and incubated in the dark at three different temperatures. The decrease of the concentration of the test substance with time was followed by analysis of the buffer solutions.

The logarithm of the concentration was plotted against time and the first-order rate constant and the half-lifes were calculated from its slope.

The half-life and the rate constant were calculated at 25°C to be respectively :342h and 0.00203
