Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

non explosive

Additional information

Testing for this endpoint has been waived in accordance with column 2 restrictions. Explosivity is associated with processes where reaction can give rise to rapid release of a gas under exothermic conditions. Particularly for the ferric salts, the iron ion is present in a very stable oxidation state, as is the chloride or sulphate counterion. The salts are therefore not expected to be explosive. The likelihood of explosive properties can generally be predicted on the basis of functional groups present in the molecule and is negated for the iron salt category.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The following statement bases on DSD, the Commission Directive 2001/59/EC (28th ATP of Council Directive 67/548/EEC), and CLP (5th ATP of Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council) as implementation of UN-GHS in the EU:

Regarding the chemical nature of the submission item no explosiveness is assumed.
