Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation: Inhalation of metals in massive form is not expected. if use or processes produce dust or fumes, and inhalation of the product is suspected, remove exposed person to fresh air, give rest and obtain medical attention.
Skin contact: Wash affected area with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation occurs.
Eye contact: In case of contact with eyes, irrigate with water for 10 minutes, occasionally lifting eyelids. Seek medical advice if irritation (pain, redness or swelling) or other symptoms occur.
Ingestion: Seek immediate medical attention if ingestion occurs. Do not induce vomiting unless instructed by medical personnel.
Medical treatment: Show Safety Data Sheet to medical personnel. Personnel protective equipment is not usually required for first-aid responders. Give symptomatic treatment and supportive therapy.
Fire-fighting measures
Fire and explosive properties: This product is not flammable but may combust at high temperatures. No explosive properties have been identified for this substance.
Extinguishing media: For small fires use dry chemical powder. For large fires, use water spray, fog or foam. Do not use water jet. Remove containers or product away from fire or cool with water.
Specific hazards: Reacts vigorously with chlorine and oxidising agents.
Protective equipment for fire fighters: Fire fighters should wear an approved self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions: Wear personnel protection. Keep unauthorised personnel from spillage area.
Environmental precautions: Prevent product from entering water-courses or drainage system.
Method for cleaning up (massive form): Pieces can be picked up or swept up and placed into a suitable container for disposal in accordance with local and national regulations.
Method for cleaning up (powder form): Powder can be carefully swept up or collected by vacuum cleaner. Avoid forming dusts. Place material in suitable container for disposal in accordance with local and national regulations.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling: Wear protective clothing. If use or processes produce dust or fumes, wear respiratory protection. Product is dense, so exercise caution when carrying heavy loads. For processing involving hot or molten metal, make sure product does not contact water or damp equipment. Wash hands after handling substance.
Storage: Keep containers or product in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep containers (if used) closed when not in use. Do not allow contamination with other chemicals.

Engineering measures: No special measures required. However, if use or processes produce dust or fumes, then local exhaust ventilation may be required to maintain air levels below occupational exposure levels.
Personal protective equipment: The need for personal protective equipment should be based on a workplace risk assessment for the particular use. Avoid skin and eye contact by wearing chemical resistant gloves (eg nitrile, neoprene, PVC) and safety goggles. Wear suitable respiratory protective equipment if exposure to dust or fumes is likely. For processing involving hot or molten metal, use heat-resistant safety clothing. Consult manufacturers concerning breakthrough times. PPE should be to European (EN) standards.
Stability and reactivity
Conditions to avoid: Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions.
Incompatible materials: Acids, alkalis and oxidising agents. Vigorous reaction with chlorine and cupric nitrate. Reacts violently with fused ammonium nitrate below 200 ºC.

Disposal considerations
This substance is not classified and may be suitable for landfill, but recycling is the recommended method of disposal.
